When you arrive at the Saint-Marcel karate club (SMK), in Eure, you have to pass in front of the administrative office. There it is Mathias Gil who welcomes karatekas and visitors with a big smile and a lot of kindness. The latter, aged 20, began a eight-month civic serviceearly September. He is responsible for functioning of club life.
24 hours per week
His baptism of fire was the spectacle for the benefit of the Telethon. ” I do a lot of administrationthere was a lot of work with the Telethon: ticket sales, posters and lots of little things to do every day,” explains the one who works 24 hours per week within the club. Mathias Gil loves what he does and the karate club is not an unfamiliar place for him.
“This time that I am going to spend at the club is a project to reorient myself. It gives me time to me former. I have the advantage of knowing everyone because I practice karate since the age of 6 with a few stops, but without ever having lost sight of the club. I’m giving myself six months to achieve a professional goal,” he says under the watchful eye of his tutor for this civic service, Cathy Glaunec.
