The year 2024 will have experienced a lot of times of tension but fortunately also a parenthesis with the Olympic and Paralympic Games where optimism, kindness and pride in being French and supporting our athletes was able to reconcile the nation in the time of one summer.
The annual message of greetings is a tradition but I hope it is also an invitation to everyone. Let's be positive, let's be Roubaix! Let's be proud of all the differences in Roubaix that make this city extraordinary.
This year again, the city of Roubaix was at the crossroads of numerous successes and exceptional meeting times. The city's festivities were there throughout the year with, for example, the 20th anniversary of the carnival, a URBX festival which brought together nearly 64,000 people over more than 55 events and a historic time this year with the passage of the Olympic flame and its arrival at the Sports Park which will have had a positive impact on many young Roubais residents on the longest journey of the flame!
And in Roubaix we have reason to be positive. This year we celebrated the journey of deserving high school graduates who illustrate that our young people can succeed and flourish here too! We can also admire the volunteers who work within the city's associations and the 2024 promotion of the volunteer ceremony has once again highlighted these men and women who allow associative life to be at the service of all.
In 2024, our elected representatives from the Children's Municipal Council presented their mid-term report and we are all impressed by their civic commitment and the work they have carried out. The Youth Advisory Council is also part of an approach undertaken in Roubaix and in 2024 the youth conference made it possible to structure the needs of young people who are the future of the city.
Here are some examples that should encourage each of us to enter the year 2025 more than ever with full of hopes and positive resolutions.
