The last ranking of the genre dates back to 2021. In this month of December, the weekly magazine The Point published his 2024 ranking of the best hospitals in France. The fruit of considerable work, crossing a dizzying amount of data. It turns out that the CHU de Caen (Calvados) appears in the Top 15 of the best hospitals, in twelfth place, seven better than the previous publication of this ranking.
Caen University Hospital, first in Normandy
In this study, no less than 1,400 health establishments in France are analyzed. The rankings are clear: the Caen University Hospital is the best-rated health establishment in Normandy. “The University Hospital, Normandy's leading health establishment in the ranking, confirms its major role for the region in terms of care, training and innovation,” rejoices the management of the public health establishment. “This progress is the result of collective mobilization, and a reflection of the expertise and professionalism of the teams. »
Cancerology in force
It should also be noted that the number of classified specialties is increasing compared to 2021, and that oncology is making strong progress. Also, ten specialties offered at the University Hospital are in the national Top 10:
- 2nd in pulmonology
- 6th in heart failure
- 6th for obesity surgery
- 6th in neurosurgery for back surgery in adults
- 7th for bone cancers in adults
- 8th for soft tissue sarcoma surgeries
- 8th for hand surgery
- 9th in knee orthopedics
- 9th for skin cancer
- 10th for brain tumors in adults
Some progress is remarkable. For the treatment of skin cancer, the University Hospital jumped from 18th place nationally to 9th, or from 16th to 10th for the treatment of adult brain tumors. At Caen University Hospital, oncology alone represents 20% of total activity, spread across around fifteen departments. The University Hospital remains the reference center for residents of Calvados, as well as Manche and Orne.
