In 2015 we welcomed the presence of the cheesemaker elected tree of the year in Saül, the commune of located in the heart of Guyana. This year 2024 we learn that on this preserved land also stands the tallest tree in , a Kimboto measuring almost 75 meters.

It is the largest tree in Guyana and France located to date, informs us in a press release from the PAG. Located in the heart of the Amazonian Park in the town of Saül this kimboto by son nom scientifique Pradosia Cochearia peaks at 74.80 meters. It was measured by climbing using a tape measure by the Treeriders association team, logistically assisted by PAG agents.

This specimen was spotted among other trees during a remote sensing operation using laser beams (Lidar system) carried out in 2020.

Located on the La Fumée mountains, the famous Kimboto is therefore the tallest of around forty trees whose tops exceed 70 m. A very remarkable fact.

This kimboto from Guyana downgrades the Douglas fir – Pseudotsuga menziesii, 130 years old, 66.48 meters high located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

This tree, exceptional in its size, may however not be the tallest because many places in the Guyanese forest are not yet known.

The tallest tree in the world is said to be a giant sequoia of 116 meters which has existed for 800 years in the state of California, it is called Hyperion.
