An ambassador from Armenia
Bernard Cakici, boss of Central, describes the film as “very nice success“. “Each of us, in relation to our lives, had a period where we were able to approach the life of Aznavour. What struck me the most was the family, the bond with his sister and the loss of his son.” And continues: “When he disappeared, we all had the impression of losing someone close to us. For all Armenians in France, he was an example and an ambassador.” References to Armenialike the presence of a traditional instrument (the duduk), or the fact that Aznavour's parents hid the resistance fighter Missak Manouchian during the Second World War, obviously did not go unnoticed by the Armenians.
“An impressive film”
As for Agop Toumayanowner of the Sassoun restaurant in Valencia and friend of the singer for 25 yearshe admits not having managed to move from his chair. “It's an impressive film. He came to my house in secret at one time. And sometimes he parked his car in front of the restaurant and came.” Agop Toumayan shares anecdotes with the audience, including an evening “extraordinaire” in Paris where he had been invited and of which he still keeps the photos. “He encouraged me to do many things. He was a simple, hardworking and persevering person. Every time he came to Valencia, he informed me with a phone call. He came to the restaurant. We were just chatting, just with mint tea and a vine leaf.”
The friend of the monument of French song admits, with the images still in his head, that he is impatient to watch the film again.
