Joseph Martin, candidate for the National Rally, won 25.37% in the first round of the legislative elections in the first constituency of Morbihan, this Sunday, June 30, 2024.

A score much higher than that of the first round of the legislative elections in June 2022, where Lydia Le Barz obtained 11.58% of the votes. However, the RN candidate is not satisfied with it: I expected a better result, it’s because of this affair that hurt me.

A tumultuous campaign

The campaign of the far-right representative in the Vannes constituency has indeed been tumultuous. After the revelation of a tweet deemed anti-Semitic by our colleagues at Releasethe National Rally had withdrawn its support for Joseph Martin on June 19. The candidate had taken note and considered throwing in the towel, before defending himself and then obtaining his rehabilitation by the RN, on the sly.

“My voters, whom I thank, are not fooled by the Stalinist methods of the newspaper Release. I call on socialists of good will to vote for me, to refuse a Stalinist state or an Islamic Republic”commented Joseph Martin, who will submit his candidacy for the second round this Monday at the prefecture.
