2024 Legislative Elections: Two RN Candidates Refuse to Debate on France Bleu Roussillon

In this short legislative campaign, France Bleu Roussillon has been giving a lot of space to politics for three weeks. After having held out the microphone or received in the studio most of the candidates from each constituency before the first round, your local proximity radio station wanted to offer debates between the “finalists” of this election. This Tuesday morning Sandrine Dogor Such (RN candidate) and Nathalie Cullell (New Popular Front) thus compared their programs for 30 minutes.

France Bleu Roussillon wanted to offer the same type of morning debate to candidates from other constituencies. This will not be the case. After giving its agreement on Monday afternoon, Michele Martinez RN candidate and outgoing MP for the 4th constituency informed us this Tuesday morning by SMS that she was “forced to cancel”. Outgoing MP claims busy schedule to be in the studio between 8:10 and 8:30 this Wednesday or another day of the week facing the New Popular Front candidate Julien Baraillé. Julien Baraillé who is also the First Federal of the Socialist Party in the department.

For her part, Sophie Blanc, candidate and outgoing National Rally MP for the 1st constituency, informed us by telephone on Monday afternoon that she did not wish to debate with the candidate of the New Popular Front, the leader of La France Insoumise in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Francis Daspe.

Two refusals which are added to others in several constituencies

Obviously, each candidate is free to choose their mode of expression. They also have the right not to be available. Our concern and our mission at France Bleu Roussillon is to give voice to all currents and to bring the democratic debate to life to allow listeners to form an opinion. In the era of algorithms and fake news, at such an important moment in the political life of our country, a live debate, with respect for everyone, at prime time on the radio, seems to us to be a useful meeting for citizens.

Several editorial offices of the France Bleu network have also noted over the past 24 hours last minute withdrawals or refusals to debate from candidates of the National Rally or allies (in Vendée, in Landes, in Isère, in Haute-Garonne, in Indre, in Loiret…)
