Far-right leader Marine Le Pen wants to keep the presidency of the RN group in the Assembly after her expected re-election in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais.

POLITICS – At 8:10 p.m. this Sunday evening, Marine Le Pen announced her re-election in the first round of the legislative elections. She was a candidate in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais.

In 2022, it was the low turnout that prevented her from winning in the first round. In the wake of her second defeat in the second round of the presidential election, the far-right leader had well exceeded 50% against the environmentalist Marine Tondelier. But she had not obtained a number of votes equivalent to 25% of registered voters, essential to avoid a second round.

A twist for the one who then took over the presidency of a historically large group that could triple after this election. With 87 deputies at her side, Marine Le Pen then tried to win the bet of respectability to fill one of her gaps with a view to 2027; a winning strategy with the election of several personalities from her party (including her lieutenant Sébastien Chenu) to key positions in the Assembly and the resumption of several points of her program in certain texts, notably the immigration law.

By promoting her runner-up Jordan Bardella as a candidate for Matignon, she wants to focus on her fourth and probably final candidacy for the Élysée. Hoping not to make him a rival for three years from now.
