Polling stations have been open since 8 a.m. this Sunday, June 30, 2024, for the legislative elections. In the 3e constituency of Calvados, Lexoviens voted a lot in the morning. At 5 p.m., in Lisieux, 57.53% of voters had turned out. A percentage higher than that of the 2022 legislative elections which, when the polling stations closed, was only 44.38%. Unlike the participation rate at midday, Lisieux voted less than the rest of Calvados, with a voting rate of 65.82% at 5 p.m.

A rate nonetheless satisfactory. “ We have a good turnout, there are people, it’s good and with a lot of proxies, comments municipal elected official Johnny Briard, whose task is to open the ballot box to voters, in one of the polling stations at the Jean-Macé school. People are in a good mood, everything is going well.”

We come across all ages, like Benjamin, 22, who believes that “legislative elections are important for the future. I always vote, it’s a right and a duty.”

“If we don’t vote we won’t be able to complain”

Mélissa, 21, is voting for the second time. The Europeans were her first vote, and she plans not to miss a single one. “It’s important to vote, it’s our future, and if we don’t vote we can’t complain. In my circle, people vote, it’s our duty. I’m studying and there’s a lot at stake in these elections.”

Others, older, do not have the same background. Like Pierre, white beard and ponytail, who explains that he did not vote in his youth. “It was the changes that motivated me. For quite some time now, I haven’t missed a single vote. These legislative elections are particularly important. »

The same goes for Marie-Thérèse, also retired. “Being younger, I didn’t vote, but I took the measure of it. We do our duty. For this election, I don’t really know what to think. We’ll see what comes out of the polls. These legislative elections are particularly important. Now I never miss an election. »
