For their last appearance on the Euro stage this Monday, July 1, the Red Devils broke an audience record on the French-speaking side. On the One, an average of 1,239,268 viewers followed the round of 16 match lost 1-0 to France, announced RTBF on Tuesday. A peak in audience was even observed in the last minutes of the game with 1,403,561 viewers.

Never before has a Devils match been watched so much on RTBF in three years. The Belgian national team had then gathered 1,530,254 viewers on the French-speaking side for its round of 16 match against Portugal. The quarter-final against Italy, the Devils’ last match in this Euro 2020, postponed by a year because of the covid pandemic, had then attracted 1,469,583 on RTBF.

Compared to RTL TVI, TF1 and France 2, the difference was very marked.

The France-Belgium match also broke an audience record on Auvio. There were 457,000 views on the public media’s streaming platform.

In the group stage, the Belgium-Slovakia match attracted more than 1.1 million viewers on La Une (320,000 on Auvio). Belgium-Romania was followed by 1.143 million viewers on La Une (297,000 on Auvio) and Belgium-Ukraine by 1.167 million viewers on the first channel of RTBF (388,000 on Auvio).
