Created in 1949 at the initiative of the department, the Public Office Habitat 77 today offers 18,564 housing units in 102 municipalities in the Seine-et-Marne department. With the signing of a shareholders' agreement between the department of Seine-et-Marne and the CDC Habitat group, the organization has become a semi-public company (SEM).
This remains a company with majority public capital, since the department remains its majority shareholder. Its governance must be exercised within the framework of joint control with the CDC Habitat group, which provides its expertise as well as equity support. The department will be able to “continue, thanks to SEM Habitat 77, its leading role in the fight against inequalities in access to housing, and facilitate integration and social cohesion in the territory”, indicate the two actors in a press release.
“In a socio-economic context which has hardened, real estate SEMs have become essential players in housing development”
“In a socio-economic context which has become tougher for the social housing sector, real estate SEMs have become essential players in housing development and are real facilitators”, continue the two partners, who made this announcement end of September.
6,000 homes rehabilitated in 10 years
“In the short term, this transformation will allow Habitat 77 to pursue its ambitions of technical and thermal renovations in order to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and the residential comfort of tenants,” indicated Jean-François Parigi, president of the departmental council of Seine-et-Marne. According to CDC Habitat, its participation of 40 million euros in the capital of the SEM “will make it possible, over ten years, to undertake the energy rehabilitation of more than 6,000 homes and to develop around 2,600 new homes”.
