Gunshots were heard Friday evening in Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne). BAC police officers shot a 22-year-old young man three times when they arrested him. The man is seriously injured, his life prognosis is in jeopardy, confirms the Créteil public prosecutor's office.
According to the account of the events drawn up by the prosecution, the young man “did not leave” do and pointed a 9mm pistol at three BAC police officers, called as reinforcements by municipal police officers from Saint-Mandé. These agents were the first to report the young man's worrying behavior, without specifying the context of this report.
Two open investigations
A police source tells France Bleu Paris that the municipal police first tried to control the man with taser discharges. An attempt which, according to this source, had no “no effect”.
Two investigations were opened. The first is entrusted to the IGPN, the police force, to “determine whether there is a state of self-defense”. The second is open for attempted murder of a person holding public authority, threats and carrying weapons. The prosecution specifies that the man targeted by the police shots held, in addition to his handgun, a knife.
