He had to be ranked among the top three athletes in the 3000m steeplechase final, and he did it! Dijon’s Alexis Miellet has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, thanks to his bronze medal, obtained at the French athletics championships this Saturday, June 29 in Angers. Despite a calf injurywhich gave rise to fears that he would not be able to line up in the final, the athlete licensed by the Dijon University Club finally achieved a time of 8 minutes 24 seconds and 91 hundredths, behind Nicolas-Marie Daru, crowned champion of France and Louis Gilavert.

Three weeks ago in Rome, Alexis Miellet had become European champion of this discipline, by achieving the minimums necessary to ensure participation in the Olympics, while he very recently turned to the 3000 meters steeplechase, he who came from the 1500 meters. “It is a relief” confides the Dijon native to Emma Sarango’s microphone for Radio France. “I wasn’t even sure I would race again this morning.
