Ice hockey is often a family affair… here is more proof. On the night of Friday to Saturday, Jan Golicic was selected in the 4th round (118th position) of the NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. This 17-year-old defenseman, described as massive, was playing this season with the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL (Quebec minor league).

The uncle and the father

Jan Golicic who is none other than… the nephew of Bostjan Golicic, a figure of the Ligue Magnus. Having arrived in Briançon in 2012 in the French championship, the Slovenian striker played 12 seasons under the colours of the Red Devils, Gap, Grenoble, Bordeaux, before ending his career at the end of this season with the Rapaces jersey on his shoulders. ”Bos notably won three French championship titles (2014, 2015 and 2019), as well as two French Cups (2013 and 2017) and a League Cup (2016).

Jan’s father, Jurij is also a name in Slovenian hockey with six national titles to his name and numerous appearances at world championships with his country.
