The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, traveling to Haute-Loire this Friday, November 22, officially announced the transfer of the Puy-en-Velay police station to the current premises of The Awakening of Haute-Loireat 9 place Michelet. Your daily life will move and stay in Le Puy.
The current Puy-en-Velay police station has become obsolete and far too cramped for the 122 police officers who work there. From 2021, a solution has emerged to find new premises for the police station in the city center. This Friday, November 22, is therefore an important date for Ponot civil servants.
The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, on an official trip to Haute-Loire, accompanied by the leader of the deputies of the Republican Right, Laurent Wauquiez, officially announced, this Friday, the release of the necessary credits.
“We will be able to position a brand new police station in the premises of Awakening. It is a partnership operation with the State, the Region and the City of Puy-en-Velay. The idea is to move as quickly as possible with the aim of opening the police station at the beginning of 2028.”

The future police station will be located in the current premises of The Awakening of Haute-Loire. The 4,500 m2 building has been occupied by our daily newspaper since 1985, after leaving number 1 rue de la Passerelle, making way (already) for the police station in 1988. The Awakening of Haute-Loirefor its part, will move to new and more suitable premises, still in Puy-en-Velay.
Today we have one of the worst police stations in France… We had to find premises so that it could remain in the heart of Puy.
This transfer promises to be one of the biggest operations in the city center of Puy-en-Velay in the coming years. This new police station had been discussed for a long time. The arrival of Bruno Retailleau at Place Beauvau visibly resolved the situation.
The project presented an important twofold challenge: keeping the police station in the city center of Le Puy and releasing the necessary funds to carry out the work and carry out the transfer. Laurent Wauquiez, former president of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, closely followed this issue. The Region will provide 4 million euros to finance the project, out of a total budget estimated between 7 and 10 million euros.
