Hugo Page from Chartres gives us his impressions after the first stage of his very first Tour de France, finishing in 65th position after a “good day”.

For his big baptism on the Tour de France, at only 22 years old, the Clévilliers rider Hugo Page (Intermarché-Wanty) had a good first day, this Saturday June 29, between Florence and Rimini.

At the end of this very hilly stage, with seven hills on the program for 3,600 m of altitude difference, the puncher-sprinter finished 65th, 18’46 behind the winner, the Frenchman Romain Bardet (DSM – Firmenich PostNL).

By message, he gave us his impressions, as he will try to do after each day of racing during the three weeks of the Grande Boucle. They were very good, according to him.

“For a first stage, it went really well. I had really good feelings, I wasn’t far from switching and staying with the main peloton, but I missed a little bit. In the end, I finished with a good group. I’m with guys who are better climbers than me. I’m really happy, my legs are good, I’m in good shape. It bodes well for the rest, all the lights are green.”

Tour de France: victory and first yellow jersey for Romain Bardet, in Rimini, at the cost of an enormous feat

Before finding a flat stage more suited to his profile, Monday July 1, between Plaisance and Turin, the Eurélien will still have to swallow several hills, this Sunday June 29, between Cesenatico and Bologna.

To clearly identify him in the peloton, know that Hugo Page wears bib number 174.
