This Saturday, June 29, the LGBTQI+ community marched to demand more rights and denounce discrimination and violence against sexual and gender minorities.

They came from all four corners of Gard, from neighboring departments and more generally from all over the great South, this Saturday, June 29, in Nîmes, to participate in the annual, unmissable mobilization.

From 4 p.m., around 1,200 people, families, and more generally friends, demonstrated on the boulevards (Courbet, Gambetta and Victor-Hugo), to simply demand the right to be different, or even equality in law. .

Regression of freedoms

Despite the threat of a storm, at the foot of the four floats spread out in a dense procession, it’s fair to say that they managed to create a lively atmosphere in the heart of the city. And for a good cause!

Between the catchy techno music, the cheeky and colorful outfits, the sensual choreographies of each person and – above all – all these smiles, nothing, except the shocking punchlines on their signs, will have let their concerns shine through.

Through music, dance, and more generally through partying, these lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, queers, and transsexuals have been able to raise awareness with finesse and intelligence about the regression of their freedoms, or the explosion of discrimination and violence that members of their communities are increasingly the target of in France. On the eve of an election that they consider, on these issues too, to be particularly decisive.
