This Monday, the writer Neige Sinno was rewarded for the audio version of her book “Triste tigre”, an autobiographical story about incest which received the Prix Femina and the Prix Goncourt des lycéens 2023.

The 2024 Ginkgo Prize, which rewards the audio version of a contemporary French novel published in the first half of the year, was awarded this Monday to the book “Triste tigre”, written by Neige Sinno and read by the novelist herself. “The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 14” in Nancy, during the 46th edition of the Livre sur la Place festival, the organizers announced on X.

Winner of the Prix Femina and the Prix Goncourt des lycéens 2023, this story tells the story of a little girl raped several times between the ages of 7 and 14 by her stepfather. And this little girl is she, the writer.

A 47-year-old mother, Neige Sinno takes the reader into her head. She analyzes her trauma, her relationship with her rapist, who was sentenced to nine years in prison, and reflects on the consequences on her life, as well as the power and powerlessness of literature.

In less than 300 pages, she dissects press articles as well as books on incest and rape (Christine Angot, Virginie Despentes…), and attempts to shatter preconceived ideas about rape, and to literally detonate what she calls her “little bomb”, moving, over the pages, from “I” to “we”.

Last year, the jury awarded the prize to “Aux animaux la guerre”, the work of Nicolas Mathieu read by Victorien Robert (Actes Sud).
