Invitation to discover The Parallel Worlds of Denis Farley on the esplanade of Quai 5160 in Verdun

This is a most surprising proposition that the esplanade of Quai 5160 in Verdun offers until May 25, 2025 with the open-air exhibition Parallel worlds by Denis Farley.

Visible from the bike path and from nearby LaSalle Boulevard, the large shots of clouds in the sky give, at first glance, the illusion of a tone-on-tone exhibition. Especially when the horizon is clear or slightly cloudy. It is only once on the esplanade, on foot or by bike, that it is possible to discover the hidden side, the frosty side so to speak, of this collection composed of two photographic series by the Montreal artist: Airspaces et Networks.

With its contrast between the aerial blue and white on one hand and the orange, yellow and grey of cloud data centres on the other, this selection surprises and questions. Wanting to illustrate the invisible saturation of bits in transit in the sky, Denis Farley offers “a representation of the dualities that inhabit us” in these parallel worlds, according to the exhibition description.

A graduate of Concordia University with a Master of Fine Arts degree, the Montrealer has exhibited in Canada, the United States and Europe. Some of Denis Farley’s works can also be seen at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography in Ottawa, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée de la photographie de Charleroi, and the Fonds national d’art contemporain in Paris.

Behind the clouds, the spine of the cloud!
