It was in Wissembourg that the National Rally achieved its highest score in Alsace: the voters took responsibility

Unprecedented political situation in Alsace following the first round of legislative elections. The National Rally candidates came out on top in eleven of the fifteen constituencies. In four of them, candidates exceeded 40%. This was the case in the 8th constituency of Bas-Rhin. The far-right candidate Théo Bernhardt obtained 44.16% of the vote against 23.51% for Stéphanie Kochert, the Macronist candidate.

“Curious to see a Bardella as Prime Minister”

In Wissembourg, in the heart of the constituency won in 2022 by a Macronist candidate, they are 31.7% voted for Jordan Bardella’s partyNicolas, 25, had never voted for the RN. “I’m too curious to see,” he said. Seduced by Gabriel Attal’s arguments and eloquence during the campaign, the young man admits to having hesitated before choosing the extreme right ballot. But today, he assumes responsibility for his choice. “It’s not because we vote RN and there are French flags in an audience that these guys want to put people in gulags.”

Purchasing power and immigration

Pour Ameliehome help, the choice was obvious. This mother has voted for the National Rally since she was 18She hopes that this time, Jordan Bardella will be Prime Minister. “After all, why not them?”she wonders. The Alsatian has some “Fed up” of not being listened to by the current government. “I have the impression that at the RN, they think a little more about purchasing power than others. I struggle like many people and I want that to change.”

Amélie fully supports the RN program, including proposals regarding immigration. “I have always worked in France and I am not helped unlike immigrants”, she justifies herself. An argument also put forward by Pascal: “We should close the doors a little bit. If France doesn’t please us, we should go back to our own country.”

The 8th constituency of Bas-Rhin could therefore fall into the RN’s fold. Two years ago, during the 2022 legislative elections, Stéphanie Kochert (Ensemble!) obtained 66.62% of the votes, against 33.37% for Ludwig Knoepffler (RN).
