A very sad rescue took place this Thursday in a squat located on Rue du Château in La Rochelle. The police, alerted by worried local residents, discovered eight dogs and puppies in an alarming state of health.

Without water or food for several days, the animals were visibly weakened and mistreated. Unfortunately, one of the puppies did not survive.

Immediately taken into care by the SPA, the dogs received the necessary veterinary care.

The investigation carried out by the police allowed the identification of the owner of the animals, a young homeless woman suffering from mental disorders.

Placed in police custody, she was released but will be subject to a court summons. The dogs were permanently taken away from him.

This news item highlights the need for increased vigilance in the face of cases of animal abuse and the importance of reporting any suspicious situation to the competent authorities.

The SPA of La Rochelle, which took charge of the dogs, is also appealing to the generosity of the public to help cover the costs of care and food for these rescued animals.
