TRAIL: Plenty of podiums for Team Salomon!

With two podiums for the men and an excellent second place for Julie Roux for the women, Team Salomon made its mark at this 90 km of Mont-Blanc.

Double podium for men

He was waiting for it! Thibaut Baronian was looking for his first benchmark race over long distances and it was in Chamonix that the Team Salomon runner achieved it. Starting in the good leading group from the start, he firmly held on to his second place until the finish. “I haven’t had only successes in the long distance until then, but they weren’t failures but rather learning. Today was better, even if everything is not yet perfect for me, I managed to have fun and I continue to learn and put things in place for the future. I now look towards the end of August and I realize the journey that I still have to complete to be able to have the same pleasure in a 100 miles. »

One Salomon rider can hide another! That’s what Baptiste Petitjean, Salomon France ambassador, proved to us, finishing 3rd in this 90 km of Mont-Blanc. Starting cautiously, he managed to catch up with his opponents to take victory in the final kilometers of the race. “If someone had told me that I would finish 3rd in this 90 km of Mont-Blanc, I wouldn’t have believed it,” he confided at the finish. I had some pelvic issues two weeks ago that really bothered me at the end of the preparation, so I didn’t expect to have such feelings today. On the climb to Montenvers, when they told me that I was less than 2 minutes behind Aurélien, I didn’t believe it… But when I saw him, I told myself that I had to go for 3rd place. At the end, Théo Détienne came back strong, and I had to accelerate to keep this podium, moreover, for the little anecdote, the barriers of the train closed in front of me in Chamonix… I thought I was going to lose my third place because of that, but fortunately a volunteer made us take a tunnel and I was able to keep my one-minute lead until the line.

A very nice second place for Julie Roux

She didn’t hide! Starting as a boss, Julie Roux led during the first 70 kilometers of the race. However, she had to give in to the Russian Ekaterina Mityaeva but took a very good second place for her first 90 km of Mont-Blanc. “I told myself that I had to start carefully since I didn’t know the route,” she admitted at the finish line. But as usual, that’s not really what I did… I led for a while, but Ekatarina quickly caught up with me and we then fought for almost 10 hours. Once she attacked, once it was me. At the end she was stronger and I had to let her go. I had moments of doubt, as well as very nice moments of pleasure and I am happy with this second place here in Chamonix. »
