DECATHLON-AG2R LA MONDIALE

Very in good shape this season, the French team will have two leaders for the general, Felix Gall (eighth and stage winner last year) and Ben O’Connor (fourth in 2021). At their side, a host of stage hunters, like Dorian Godon, Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Benoît Cosnefroy.

ALPECIN-DECEUNINCK

Yellow jersey for one week in 2021, more discreet last year, Raymond Poulidor’s grandson, Mathieu Van der Poel, will be one of the attractions of the peloton. But perhaps not the greatest provider of success for this team, which counts in its ranks the best sprinter in the world, Jasper Philipsen, green jersey and winner of four stages last summer.

ARKÉA-B&B HOTELS

Still looking for its first stage victory on the Tour, the Breton team will first rely on its home sprinter Arnaud Démare. The rest of the team will try to get into the good positions, with some serious assets, such as Kévin Vauquelin or Vincenzo Albanese.

ASTANA

Having returned empty-handed last summer, sprinter Mark Cavendish has signed on for another year to give himself another chance to realise his dream: to become the sole record holder for stage wins on the Tour, a status he currently shares with Eddy Merckx (34 victories). A good part of the Kazakh team will be at his service, with the exception of a few free spirits like Samuele Battistella.

BAHRAIN-VICTORIOUS

Stage winner and sixth overall last year, Pello Bilbao will once again be the leader. But there will be many other riders to watch within this team, from sprinter Phil Bauhaus to the formidable stage chaser Matej Mohoric (already three successes on the Grande Boucle) including the rising Colombian climber-puncher, Santiago Buitrago.

BORA-HANSGROHE

Having arrived this winter within the German team, Primoz Roglic has bet everything on the Tour de France this year. Will the Slovenian finally win the only major stage race missing from his list of achievements? From Aleksander Vlasov (fifth in 2022) to Jai Hindley (winner of the 2022 Giro) and Daniel Martinez, he will in any case be remarkably surrounded.

COFIDIS

After fifteen years of scarcity, the northern team finally won a stage of the Tour, and even two, last summer. Freed from this stress, she will try to do as well this year with her sprinter Bryan Coquard, her climbers Guillaume Martin and Ion Izagirre or her all-rounder Axel Zingle.

EF EDUCATION

Unlucky last year (not starting in the second stage), Richard Carapaz has once again bet everything on the Grande Boucle this year. The Ecuadorian climber will be supported by Neilson Powless, polka dot jersey for almost two weeks last summer, as well as the Irish firebrand Ben Healy.

GROUPAMA-FDJ

In addition to David Gaudu, fourth in the 2022 Tour and ninth last year, who will once again aim for a good general ranking, Marc Madiot’s team will be banking on its young puncher Romain Grégoire, who could well raise his arms in his first Tour. They will be able to count on the support of strong runners, such as Rudy Molard or Stefan Küng.

INEOS

Fifth in his first Tour at the age of 22 last year, Carlos Rodriguez returns to confirm, after a remarkable start to the season (winner of the Tour de Romandie, second in the Tour of the Basque Country). He will share leadership with Egan Bernal, winner of the 2019 Tour, who has returned to a very good level. Alongside them, a host of excellent runners, capable of becoming stage chasers, such as Tom Pidcock or Michal Kwiatkowski.

INTERMARCHÉ-WANTY

Objective stage victory for the Belgian team, based around its Eritrean sprinter-puncher Biniam Girmay. His teammates should lead the breakaways, particularly Louis Meintjes in the high mountains.

ISRAEL-PREMIER TECH

Without a credible leader for the general classification as for the sprints, this team will especially want not to miss the breakaways likely to go to the end, in search of a stage victory. Between Stephen Williams, Corbin Strong, Michael Woods and Dylan Teuns, there are many candidates for the day of glory.

JAYCO-AIULA

Excellent fourth in the Tour last year, Simon Yates will struggle to do as well given the competition, and could turn, as in 2019 (two victories), into a mountain sniper. Dylan Groenewegen will be the team’s designated sprinter. The other runners will serve these two leaders.

VISMA-LEASE A BIKE

Double title holder, Jonas Vingegaard will obviously be the first candidate for his own succession and will be able to count on a five-star team to help him achieve it: Matteo Jorgenson, Sepp Kuss, Tiesj Benoot…

LOTTO DSTNY

All-terrain sprinter Arnaud De Lie will discover the Tour de France at the age of 22 and will be one of the attractions of this 2024 edition. Alongside him, a host of adventurers, including another young Belgian, Maxim van Gils, formidable on hilly courses.

MOVISTAR

Forced to abandon the first stage last year, Enric Mas (fifth in 2020, sixth in 2021) will want to take his revenge and return to the final top 5 of the Tour. This will be the main objective of the Spanish team, which will also try its luck, depending on the terrain, with Alex Aranburu, Rémi Cavagna or Ruben Guerreiro.

SOUDAL-QUICK STEP

Reigning time trial world champion and winner of the 2022 Vuelta a España, 24-year-old Remco Evenepoel is competing in his first Tour de France. With a simple goal: to win it. The Belgian will have an entire team at his service, including excellent climbers Mikel Landa and Ilan van Wilder.

DSM-FIRMENICH

Two French climbers will have the task of carrying the colours of the German team in the high mountains: Romain Bardet and Warren Barguil, both former polka-dot jersey riders of the Tour, both in search of a new stage success. In the plains, we will follow the sprinter Fabio Jakobsen.

TOTAL ENERGY

It will be difficult to exist for the invited team from Vendée, which has not won on the Tour for many years. Mathieu Burgaudeau, Stef Cras and Jason Tesson represent the best chances of a stage victory, but it remains slim.

LIDL-TREK

Winner of the 2020 Giro d’Italia, Britain’s Tao Geoghegan Hart is aiming for a top 10 finish overall. Alongside him, the 2023 Tour polka dot jersey, Giulio Ciccone, and the strong Danish sprinter Mads Pedersen, who will both be looking to win at least one stage.

UAE-TEAM EMIRATES

Winner of the 2020 and 2021 Tour, second in the last two editions, Tadej Pogacar will once again be a candidate for final victory. The 26-year-old Slovenian will once again have a formidable team to support him: Adam Yates (third last year), Juan Ayuso (winner this year of the Tour of the Basque Country), Nils Politt, João Almeida…

ONE-X

Invited for the second year in a row, the Norwegian team will seek to win a stage and has several assets to do so, between the climber Tobias Johannessen and the all-rounders Magnus Cort or Soren Wærenskjold.
