Indeed, the announcement came at the very beginning of the afternoon: in order to respond to an injunction from the Prefecture, the organizers of the Scarpa Trail de la Vallée des Lacs were forced to cancel the last event of the day, at namely the Naturalness of Mary. The storms predicted for the end of the day encouraged the authorities to play it safe and Athlé Vosges also chose to shorten the Grand Trail, namely the main event, in order to ensure that as many runners as possible could cross the finish line. The marshals were quickly warned to divert the route, to the great dismay of certain competitors and volunteers who, in the words of the announcer, “had worked hard all week” to make this event a success.

And in this regard, let them be reassured, this Trail of the Valley of the Lakes 2024 is nevertheless a success in terms of participation and even of the public who had made the trip to follow the race or/and accompany the runners. The entire part which preceded the storms took place wonderfully and in an excellent atmosphere, seeing the arrival of the athletes of the short trail, the long trail as well as the first and first of the queen event of the long trail won by the Rémois Camille Tominet. The latter completed the event in 8 hours 48 minutes and 49 seconds, far, very far (too much!?) ahead of his pursuers Maxime Quiri and Clément Constantin. On the Long Trail, Louis Thiébaut won the men’s race and Nolwenn Chauvel won the women’s race. And of course, all these little people arrived to the applause of the public! ditto for Arnaud Bonin and Gaelle Chauvot, winners of the Trail Court and all the competitors.
Finally, although it is not yet time to take stock, the organization has already made an appointment with all trail enthusiasts for the 22nd edition of the Trail de la Vallée des Lacs which will take place on June 28, 2025. A word to the wise!
