Swimming in the Rhône in Lyon: “Given the colour of the water, it doesn’t appeal to me at all”

Swimming in the Rhône will be experienced this Sunday, June 30, in Lyon.

This will be a first! Swimming in the Rhône will be experienced this Sunday in Lyon, as part of the “Entre Rhône et Saône” Festival.

The experiment will take place at the level of Berges Parkfrom 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Gerland district. More than 100 swimmers will jump into the water in an area marked out by buoys and secured by lifeguards.

“Given the colour of the water, I don’t like it at all.”

If the latest analyses of water quality are satisfactory (unlike those of the Seine in Paris), some residents are rather “cold” at the idea of going swimming in the Rhone.

“Given the colour of the water, I’m not at all keen on it. In my opinion, there are an astronomical amount of rather strange things under water. But good luck to those who are going to try it!”Célia told us.

If the experiment is conclusive, swimming in the Rhône could in any case be made permanent in the future, in order to combat extreme heat. For the moment, it obviously remains prohibited.
