5-month-old baby found dead in car, investigation opened

A five-month-old baby was found dead in a car in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) this Friday, June 28. The tragedy occurred in the parking lot of the Thales company, located in the Basso-Cambo business park, while the outside temperature was around 30° at the end of the afternoon, indicates The Dispatch.

Around 5 p.m., a company employee discovered her infant in the back of his locked vehicle. The alert was immediately given and SAMU doctors as well as a pediatric SMUR crew were sent to the scene, accompanied by firefighters. Despite their rapid intervention, the rescuers could only note the death of the baby, who had remained locked in the car since the morning. The lack of air and intense heat were fatal for the infant.

The Toulouse public prosecutor’s office announced the opening of an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. The national police are responsible for investigations to elucidate the causes and possible responsibilities in this tragedy. A medical-psychological unit has also been set up to support the parents and relatives of the victim.

A 7-month-old baby died in the same circumstances in Carpentras (Vaucluse) ten days ago. At the end of May in Haut-Rhin, a 16-month-old child also lost his life after being forgotten in the car by his father who was going to work.
