The monthly magazine of the City of Nîmes was rewarded for its March report on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Les Halles during the 26th Territorial Press and Information Prize.

The magazine Living in Nîmes crowned with a national award! This Friday, June 28 afternoon, the winners of the 26th Territorial Press and Information Prize were revealed during an online ceremony. The monthly magazine of the City of Nîmes was crowned in the so-called “Plume d’or” category by the jury of Cap com, the cooperative which has been organizing this prestigious competition for more than a quarter of a century.

Cap’com is the national network for public and territorial communication. It unites, animates and represents the 25,000 professionals in public and territorial communication from local authorities, national and local administrations and public bodies and the associative sector.

Living Nîmes unanimously crowned!

This year, no less than 80 publications applied in the seven different categories of the Territorial Press and Information Prize. First named among the four finalists last month, Live Nîmes therefore wins the “Plume d’or” prize which rewards “the best article or portrait remarkable for its tone, its angle: the writing must serve a message, a positioning”.

It is for its eight-page dossier on the 140th anniversary of Les Halles de Nîmes, published in the March 2024 issue, that the Nîmes magazine stands out. A recognition granted unanimously by the 18 members of the jury, professionals in public communication, territorial journalism and graphic design and representatives of the world of communication, journalism and the media.

At the time of the conception of this file awarded with the “Plume d’or”, the ambition of the editorial staff of Vivre Nîmes was to start from this anniversary date to go well beyond the celebration of the 140 of the Halles and the announcement of the activities which will be offered throughout the year by the City and the stalls, via very “angular” and very embodied subjects, with human touch.

A file, written entirely in-house and laid out by the Scoop communication agency, divided into four sections:

  • the general context with a presentation of the place, its importance on a gastronomic level of course, but also economically and socially and culturally in the city.
  • History, with research and documentation, including several archive images.
  • the report, by sending a team at night behind the scenes at Les Halles, before they opened, alongside the stallholders.
  • the incarnation, with a gallery of portraits: stallholders, customers or City agents. To highlight those who live and bring these Halles to life.

Furthermore, this entire file has also been published and enriched on the news site vivrenimes.fr and on the various social networks of the City of Nîmes, with more images, video, etc.

Finally, a special operation was carried out on Sunday March 3 in Les Halles: while distribution of the magazine did not begin until the following Wednesday, nearly 2,000 copies were distributed there hand to hand to customers of the covered market, in preview.

Living Nîmes already rewarded in 2019

In 2019, Vivre Nîmes received the Grand Prix, the top category of the Cap’Com Territorial Press and Information Prize. The entire magazine, redesigned the previous year following a readership survey, was recognized. In particular for its ability to involve residents in the development of the new magazine and, thus, to best meet their expectations. Ambitions and a will intact, and renewed month after month.
