The official kick-off for Canada Day will be given with solemnity on the 1is July at 11 a.m., on the Dufferin Terrace, with the raising of the Canadian flag. The famous distribution of the giant cake, made and offered by the Fairmont Château Frontenac, will conclude the launch of the festivities. During this time, between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., around fifty shows and activities will be scheduled on the Plains of Abraham in the different zones (Shows, Extravagante, Family, Teen, World and Complètement Canada). Finally, you will be able to attend the closing show for free, between 8 and 10 p.m., at the Edwin-Bélanger Kiosk, where you will be able to hear Jeanick Fournierbig winner of Canada’s Got Talent, followed by the big novelty of this year: an immersive laser show, Stellaris, made possible by the City of Quebec. The Girls Ride


The 16e Ride de Filles will be held on Saturday, July 6 in Drummondville. Organized to benefit the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation (FCSQ), this major ride, made up exclusively of women, will once again this year bring together more than 1,000 female motorcyclists from all over Quebec. During this festive day, you can attend the Ride de Filles concert in the evening at the Centrexpo Cogeco in Drummondville, a benefit show that will bring together on stage this year the musicians of the group Les Porn Flakes as well as Lulu Hughes, Éric Lapointe, Brigitte Boisjoli, Rick Hughes, Kim Richardson, Martin Deschamps and the troupe Les Koristes from the show Live from the universe. To date, nearly $2 million has been donated to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation thanks to participants, donors, volunteers and all the generous sponsors and partners. In the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame


Congratulations to the teacher Guylaine Demers (photo), internationally renowned leader in sports equity, who will receive the Order of Sport and be inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame as a builder, during a ceremony to take place October 23, 2024 at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau. Full professor at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Laval University, Guylaine Demers has devoted most of her life and career to promoting gender equality in sport. A former high-level basketball athlete and coach for more than two decades, she has become, through her research and commitment, a key specialist in gender equity in Quebec and Canadian sport. Internationally, she has made a major contribution to the development of women’s leadership in sport by collaborating on more than 300 sessions on this theme across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle Orient and Oceania. After serving as co-director of the first Canadian research center on gender equity in sport, Guylaine Demers became, in 2022, director of the first Quebec research laboratory for the advancement of women in sports, Lab PROFEMS. The St-Roch Commercial Development Corporation (SDC) announces the hiring of its new general manager, Marie-Pier Menard (photo) who was general manager of Multivrac St-Apo since 2021 before accepting the SDC offer. At the same time, she also held the role of project manager at the Association of Silvicultural Works Entrepreneurs of Quebec (AETSQ) since 2019. She has been in position since June 17.
