Coming in 3rd in the first round, the outgoing Ensemble MP, Claire Pitollat, announced on Monday July 1st that she was withdrawing from the race for the legislature for the 2nd constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.
The outgoing MP, Claire Colomb-Pitollat (Ensemble) announced on Monday July 1st that she was withdrawing from the race for deputy in the 2nd constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.
“I have decided to block the RN by not submitting my candidacy,” she announced in a statement published on the social network X.
After seven years in parliamentary office, Claire Colomb-Pitollat won 27.01% of the vote in the first round of legislative elections this Sunday, June 30.
A result placing the candidate in third place in the votes behind Olivier Rioult (RN), who came first with 32.06% of the votes and Laurent Lhardit (NFP), credited with 28.49%.
For the second round, the 2nd constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône was to be the scene of a three-way race between the three candidates for a seat in the National Assembly. A scenario which will therefore not take place.
At the same time as announcing the withdrawal of her candidacy, Claire Colomb-Pitollat indicated that she supported the candidate of the New Popular Front in the second round. “I am withdrawing and supporting the candidacy of Laurent Lhardit, whose respectable humanist values I know,” she indicated.
