After Voironnais-Chartreuse, Sud-Grésivaudan and the territory of the Grenoble Metropolis, the work will now be concentrated in Grésivaudan. There are only 31 km of cycle paths left to be developed out of the 123 that are in Isère.
A project completed by 2028
Work on the last portion therefore began in June. This final project is divided into three phases.
The first should theoretically last until the fall of 2024. It is during this that a greenway will be created on the left bank of the Isère, between the department of Savoie and the commune of Tencin, on a portion of 17km.
The second phase will take place between 2025 and 2026 with the creation of a greenway as well, but this time on the right bank of the Isère, between the municipalities of La Terrasse and Saint-Ismier, 14 km long. The project will first have to obtain environmental authorizations.
Doubling the network of cycle paths in Isère
Finally, and this is a significant part, it will be necessary to rebuild the bridge between La Terrasse and Tencin. The current one is not wide enough and is limited in tonnage.
“We aim to double the network of cycling facilities in Isère. La Belle Via is the perfect illustration of this,” explains Jean-Pierre Barbier, president of the Isère department.
The total cost of this work amounts to 13 million euros.
