The 13th Rives-Villeréal Races, this Sunday

The tenth and final event of the Challenge Trails 47 2023/2024 season, the Foulées de Rives-Villeréal, will be held this Sunday with a new feature: the start from the beautiful Place de Monpazier for the long trail.

The short 10 km trail (100 meters of positive altitude difference) takes the same circuit as in 2023. The 21 km trail (250 m D +), will therefore start from Monpazier to reach, through numerous forest paths and trails grassy areas, the Pesquié racecourse low in Villeréal, arrival point for the trails but also for the relay race (2 × 5 km) known as “the gardener”, a 10 km hike as well as children’s races which take place will argue around 11 a.m. The start of the long trail will be at 8:30 a.m. A shuttle can take runners from Villeréal to Monpazier: departure 7:45 a.m. The 10 km trail starts at 9 a.m. from the Villeréal church square.

If the rains have complicated the clearing of the circuits, everything will be ready for Sunday and the organizers, including Frédéric Barou, are confident: “above all, we are looking for conviviality and the enhancement of the region’s heritage, both village and natural. “The idea is to regularly vary the routes. After the Château de Biron in 2023, it is the beautiful central square of Monpazier, classified among the “Most beautiful villages in France” which will serve as the starting line.”

The Rives-Villeréal Races attract many Périgord runners who particularly shone last year. Licensees of MAC 47 (Monflanquin), SU Agen or ASPTT Agen Athletics accustomed to the podiums of the Challenge Trails 47, are warned…
