(VOVWORLD) – Vienna, the Austrian capital, has once again been voted the most livable city in the world by theEconomist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

This announcement, made on June 27, is based on the Global Liveability Indexwhich rates cities on criteria such as sociopolitical stability, quality of medical care, education and infrastructure.
Already voted the most liveable city from 2018 to 2020, Vienna regained the title in 2022 after a two-year hiatus, and so retains it this year. Copenhagen, the Danish capital, retains its second place, while Zurich, Switzerland, ranks third. Melbourne, Australia, and Calgary, Canada, rank fourth and fifth respectively, with Geneva sharing fifth place with Calgary.
Among the top 10 cities in the Asia-Pacific region are Osaka, Japan, and Auckland, New Zealand.
Note that Tel Aviv, Israel, fell 20 places, ending up in 112th position, due to the drop in its stability score following the conflict with the Islamic movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The EIU evaluated 173 cities around the world based on five main criteria: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
