A man and a woman were charged and placed in custody

A man and a woman were charged and imprisoned on Friday in the investigation into a shooting that left one person dead in early June on the terrace of a restaurant in downtown Saumur, the Angers prosecutor’s office announced. On June 3, late in the afternoon, the shootings killed a 21-year-old man and injured a 20-year-old man, who was shot in the hand. According to the prosecutor’s office, the facts were “linked to a debt of 100 euros”.

A 19-year-old, the alleged instigator of the shooter, had already been charged on June 8 with “complicity in assassination and assassination attempts” and placed in pre-trial detention. Tuesday evening, investigators from the interdepartmental direction of the national police (DIPN) of Angers arrested the two other suspects, a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, in the vicinity of Tours.

Assisted in his escape

The man admitted in police custody to being the perpetrator, indicates the Angers public prosecutor, Eric Bouillard, in a press release. He was indicted on charges of murder, attempted murder and unauthorized acquisition of a category B weapon.

For her part, the young woman who drove the shooter admitted to having assisted him during his escape, according to Éric Bouillard. She was indicted in particular for complicity in assassination, complicity in attempted assassinations and hiding a criminal from search. Both were placed in pre-trial detention and the investigation continues “to clarify the circumstances of the facts”.
