The French Athletics Championships will take place on June 28, 29 and 30, 2024 in Angers (Maine-et-Loire). Several Norman athletes are in the running and in particular Flavie Renouard and Antoine Thoraval, who aim for qualification for the Paris Olympic Games next August.

Flavie Renouard, a more likely qualification

Flavie Renouard is in very good condition to obtain his precious sesame. Since she is the only athlete with Alice Finot to have achieved the minimum, his simple participation in the French Championships will allow her to validate her ticket for the Games. Despite a malaise that gave her team a big scare during the European Championships in Rome, where she fell in the last river, the athlete from Caen Athletic Club has not changed her goal. Flavie Renouard will start the 3,000m steeplechase final on Saturday, June 29 at 8:35 p.m. and does not apprehend anything the return to competition.

I don’t remember how I crossed the line in Rome. I worked well and I feel good. The French Championships are always something big. The goal is to hang on to Alice (Finot) for as long as possible and bring home a medal.

Antoine Thoraval, the obligatory top 3

Concerning Antoine Thoraval, the equation is a little more complex. He will need to do a good series in the 100m from 6:35 p.m. this Friday, June 28, to obtain a place in the final which will take place an hour later.

I need to get a podium spot to be sure of going to the Olympic Games. I feel good. Calm and rested a few hours before the start.

Antoine Thoraval, athlete from EA Mondeville-Hérouville

In case the athlete from Entente Athlétique Mondeville-Hérouville were to secure a place in the top 6, there would be other factors to consider when making the Olympic team. The international experience and the time itself will have an impact. In the event that he does not obtain his ticket for the Games despite qualifying for the final, he will then take part in the 4x100m de la Diamond League from Paris on July 7th.
