The victim was dragged into a car while she was on a posh avenue in the city, before being assaulted by six people. Her attackers fled in high-powered vehicles.

A surprising case of kidnapping and gang violence in Marseille. This Tuesday evening, a man in his forties was kidnapped by several threatening individuals while he was walking quietly along Boulevard Périer, in the chic and peaceful 8e district of the city.

As reported by a police source, the victim told the police that she had been approached in the middle of the street by a man asking her to “patients” along the boulevard. It was then that three individuals arrived at the scene of this strange meeting at the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne, forcing the victim to get inside the luxurious vehicle.

Abandoned on the public highway

The kidnappers, soon joined by three other accomplices driving in another large vehicle, took the victim out of sight to beat him. The latter was held in the vehicle during her attack before being released and abandoned on the public highway, the two vehicles quickly fleeing. Taken care of by the emergency services immediately, the victim was transported to the emergency room of the Timone hospital without his vital prognosis being compromised.

The circumstances of this sudden abduction are still unclear and have led to the opening of an investigation for “kidnapping”, “sequestration” and “group violence”. In Marseille, attempted kidnappings based on extortion or intimidation are not uncommon: at the end of February, a 15-year-old boy was saved in extremis by police officers from the anti-crime squad after he had just been kidnapped and held in a car by several individuals.
