This June 27, many Lot-et-Garonnais received an SMS which sometimes caused their surprise. “You trusted me to build the hospital. On 06/30 I am asking for your vote to wake up the territory. Act Now. cahuzac2024.fr STOP 38180. » (Sic) Indeed, the candidate for deputy in the third constituency of the department continues his campaign by directly appealing to voters, a scenario which is not unique in France and seems to be becoming more democratic.

Nevertheless, some were moved by the manner, starting with one of his opponents: Xavier Czapla, candidate of the left-wing union. “Dozens of voters, members of the support committee of the New Popular Front […] are outraged,” he wrote in a press release. “Their number reveals that there are undoubtedly hundreds of telephone numbers which were used without the consent of the recipients. »And to question: “Which file did Mr. Cahuzac use? »

The hospital that makes fun of charity

Questioned, Jérôme Cahuzac said he did not know how many people the said SMS was sent to. “Do you think it’s me who has the file? Are you kidding? “, he sweeps away. “I don’t know anything about it and I’m not interested in discussing with Mr. Czapla on a subject that has no interest. If Mr. Czapla wants technical information, I will give it to him. » The former mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot also specifies: “Hundreds of candidates are doing this across France currently. It is neither original nor illegal. »

Still in the same press release, Xavier Czapla criticizes his opponent for taking credit for the construction of the hospital. “He presents himself as the only builder,” he laments. Without wanting to elaborate, the person concerned readily acknowledges that “it is not new” that he takes credit for the construction of the PSV. PSV which is in “difficulty,” recalls the candidate of the New Popular Front: “Mr. Cahuzac seems to have lost contact with the constituency for ten years, and we can guess that he must not have gone very often to the PSV’s overloaded emergency room due to the lack of treating physicians in our territory.”

The former Budget Minister responds with a question: “What is he proposing? » Then blames his opponent, who refused a debate: “I would have found it healthy and useful to debate with Mr. Czapla on all these subjects. It turns out that it was he who refused to debate by not wanting to come to Radio 4, to participate in this debate precisely so that we could exchange our points of view. »

The radio station in the north of the department wanted to bring together four of the five candidates: the two already mentioned, Annick Cousin (RN) and Guillaume Lepers (LR). The far-right candidate was the first to refuse the invitation, followed by the current mayor of Villeneuve, before Xavier Czapla declined in turn.

There is no doubt that the match between the two men is not over. Sunday evening, at 6:30 p.m., Xavier Czapla met voters of the New Popular Front on the square in front of Sainte-Catherine church, a few steps from Jérôme Cahuzac’s office. The latter invites, for his part, a public meeting in the said office, at 6:30 p.m., this June 28.
