The Meygal and the Mézenc are ideal for trail running and orienteering

The community of communes Mézenc Loire Meygal has carried out an extension of its trail area and is developing orienteering. More than 200 km in total.

Equipped with a map, alone, in a group or in a team, to orient yourself, observe the spaces around us, these are the lovely challenges offered by the orienteering courses. Marked areas already exist in Saint-Julien-Chapteuil and Les Estables, whether in the towns or in the middle of nature and forests. The town of Monastier-sur-Gazeille in turn becomes a playground for orienteering. Around twenty beacons have been installed in the heart of the city with three different levels of difficulty, accessible to all.

The trail area is expanding

The Meygal area is well known to trail runners, which is full of single-path trails and wild spaces used in sneakers to get off the beaten track. Six circuits already existed, starting from Saint-Julien-Chapteuil, Lantriac and “Raffy” in Queyrières. The community of communes is seeing double with now six additional routes. Two starting points are added, at Monastier-sur-Gazeille and Chadron.

To carry out these extensions, the community was able to rely on the departmental orienteering committee and the Meygalit association for the opening of paths and marking.

The circuits are visible on the website of the Mézenc Loire Meygal Tourist Office (https://www.mezencloiremeygal.com/) or in one of the offices.
