The Conservatory of music, dance, and theater of Val-de-Reuil, Léry and Poses is enjoying real success, with its more than 700 students. After a busy 2023-2024 year, Vincent Grandserre, director for nine years of the Conservatoire à rayonnement intercommunal (CRI) of Val-de-Reuil (Eure), is taking the opportunity to return to the history of the establishmentlargely anchored at the heart of the development of the city of Rolyvale.

“Militant” beginnings

The Nelly Marcon Music House Associationcreated in 1979 and chaired by a former school principal, Chantal Mégange, is the first brick of the Conservatory. It engaged in an activist approach to bring artistic life to the town of Val-de-Reuil, which was at the time in full emergence. In 1989, a single-purpose intercommunal union (SIVU) was set up with the integration of Poses (Eure) and, in 1992, of Léry (Eure).

Expanding the scope of interventions

The CRI does not play in conservatism, quite the contrary. Each year, the Conservatory tries tobroaden its scope of action. “We have three main missions: teaching and course, artistic and cultural education in schools, colleges and high schools, and the artistic diffusion with 80 to 90 shows per year,” the director of the CRI, Vincent Grandserre, is keen to point out. This is how the schools in the three municipalities, with nearly 2,500 children, are scoured. “We have one of the largest systems in France. We send a team of teachers to all the classes in the schools, with 75 hours of interventions per week,” he emphasizes.

Reducing inequalities

Despite this, the establishment is aware that artistic practices are not always within the reach of all budgets. Thus, many families benefit from reduced fares, depending on income and family quotient. Another bill-reducing tool is the cultural passport : financial assistance offered by the Maison de la musique Nelly Marcon association, in partnership with the Conservatory. “Thanks to this cultural passport, we have young people that we would not normally have been able to have,” retorts Vincent Grandserre. This is important because artistic activities also make it possible to change life trajectories. »

Maintain an open-door policy

The CRI has numerous rooms to meet all artistic needs, including a auditorium of around a hundred seats. The latter allows for performances on site. However, Vincent Grandserre wishes to continue to open up to the outside: “It’s a great tool, but my team and I want to maintain our policy of opening our practices to other locations.”

The CRI wishes to expand its cultural offering to all artistic fields. The future atelier cirqueis the perfect example. Set up with the Normandy circus school Sagacirque, it will start in September 2024.

2024-2025 registrations for all activities are open in a first phase until July 13, 2024. A second is planned from August 29 to September 6, 2024. Information: 02 32 59 45 93 – [email protected] – www.conservatoire-vdrlp.com – 5 voie de la Palestre 27 100 Val-de-Reuil
