2024 Legislative Elections: Nîmes unions call for a democratic and social surge

Between 300 and 400 people marched against the National Rally vote in the early legislative elections. Inter-union speeches in front of the Maison Carrée in Nîmes then parade to the Gard prefecture.

In Alès there were 200 people who responded to the inter-union call. CGT/CFDT/FO and FSU wanting to incite ” a democratic and social surge“.

“They are shooting themselves in the foot”

A call to rally launched at the national level by the CGT. Call which echoed in the Gard, “The risk for workers is enormous” explains Bruno Rivier, his departmental secretary. And he continues, “Where the far right is in power in Europe or South America, the situation is worse.“.

“The RN is not the solution to the agricultural crisis”

Didier Marion, on behalf of Conf’Paysanne du Gard, spoke. “To resolve the agricultural crisis, we must withdraw from the European treaties” he explained. According to him – even if the poorest peasants like the impoverished workers vote RN -, “they are wrong, it is not by excluding your neighbor that you get better“.
