The municipal police station in the Hauteville district of Lisieux (Calvados) should reopen its doors this summer, in August 2024. The place had been targeted and severely damaged on the night of June 30 to July 1, 2023, during the riots following the death of young Nahel.

One year after the damage committed in the Hauteville district of Lisieux (Calvados) during the riots following the death of young Nahel in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), the municipal police station is about to reopen its doors at shopping center number 1. “The opening is normally scheduled for the beginning of August, the work will be completed”indicates the first deputy mayor, Denis Fraquet.
As a reminder, on the night of June 30 to 1is July 2023, individuals targeted the building, as well as the town hall annex, the tobacconist’s, the bakery and street furniture.
Inside, “everything melted”
Since then, work has been undertaken inside the police station. “We had to redo everything. The fire had not caught but everything had melted with the heat. » The municipality should also see its insurance premium “significantly increase”.
The reopening of the tobacconist last month delighted the neighborhood’s residents. Denijs Breton and his wife Nadège had resumed service in the premises of the old town hall annex.
