The rally against the far right and for social progress brought together around 150 people this Thursday, Place de la Mairie, in Tarbes.

“Bigorre antifascist” crosses the banner of the CGT of Hautes-Pyrénées hung by the activists in front of the gate of the town hall of Tarbes, this Thursday, June 27. At the call of the inter-union CGT, FSU, Solidaires and the Confédération Paysanne, the rally against the extreme right and for social progress brought together around 150 people. Among them, the two candidates of the New Popular Front in Sunday’s early legislative elections: namely, Sylvie Ferrer, outgoing MP (LFI) for the first constituency and Denis Fégné (PS), mayor of Ibos and candidate for the second constituency. Remember that the CGT officially called to vote for the candidates of the New Popular Front.

As soon as the dissolution was announced, trade union organizations called for mobilization against the National Rally. A first demonstration brought together around 1,500 people on June 15, in Tarbes. The unions say they have since continued their work to decipher the dangers of the RN program for the world of work. “The extreme right is only a few steps away from power where it could carry out its racist, xenophobic and antisocial policies” underlined David Castebrunet (FSU) who spoke on behalf of the inter-union. He then listed the demands of the unions: the increase in salaries and pensions, the repeal of the pension reform, the defense of public services, etc. And to conclude by raising the tone: “Not a single vote for the extreme right. Let’s protect our Republic. Let’s protect our democracy. We won’t give up!” He finally invited the public to come to the LGBTQIA+ Pride March, this Saturday, June 29, at Place de Verdun, and to participate in the march at 4:30 p.m.
