If you have Coca-Cola Cherry, you will need to replace it. The 33 cl cans of this drink distributed by the B&M brand in France are the subject of a recall measure by the authorities due to a health risk, they announced on Saturday.

These cherry-flavored cans are subject to a precautionary measure due to the presence of a dangerous chemical. “The interior coating of the can in phenoxy resin is produced from Bisphenol A,” according to the government website Rappel Conso.

A reminder that runs until August 27

Bisphenol A, banned in France since 2015 although it was previously used in the manufacture of cans and cans, is an endocrine disruptor according to the French Food Safety Agency (ANSES). It is suspected of being linked to multiple disorders and diseases (breast cancer, infertility, etc.).

Rappel Conso does not indicate how many cans are affected by the measure. The recall runs until August 27 and buyers can request a full refund.

“Coca-Cola France would like to clarify that this recall does not concern other Coca-Cola Cherry products which are sold in other points of sale in France” apart from B&M, underlines the American company in a press release. The recall concerns cans that were produced “outside France” and products “manufactured and distributed throughout France by (its) local bottler, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners France, are not affected by this recall”.
