Nintendo Switch: Video games to watch in July 2024

The Nintendo Switch is taking advantage of the summer to catch up on games that have already been released on other platforms but that have escaped its attention. The month of July therefore inevitably feels like déjà vu, even if some new releases that have received little media coverage could well create a surprise.

The Legend of Heroes : Trails Through Daybreak

To start discovering the new part of the saga The Legend of Heroes, no need to know the first games, you just need to be a J-RPG lover. Because the context of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak involves completely new issues and new characters.

Devoid of ties and allegiances, the swordsman Van Arkride is a “spriggan”, understand a mercenary ready to accept any mission from the highest bidder. His skills allow him to play the role of negotiator as well as that of detective or bounty hunter.. But his actions take him to the limit of legality and the 24-year-old young man does not hesitate to interact with the mafia as well as other organizations operating in the gray zone.

In order to modernize the fundamentals of the franchise, developer Falcom has implemented a new combat system allowing you to juggle freely between real-time and turn-based. The battles of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak should therefore be more sustained while retaining the strategic spice that made the series successful.

One Piece Odyssey

The Switch version of One Piece Odyssey is finally ready, but are players still waiting for it? Although full of manga references, this RPG suffers from a lack of rhythm which was not unanimously appreciated, despite a rather nice turn-based combat system. Indies to watch

Let’s finish with some titles that could well get noticed in July. With its strange concept based on shadow and light, gesture is based on beautifully animated chiaroscuro environments. The goal is to find your shadow in a relatively abstract world. To be discovered on July 18.

His hero reminds us Eyes more Bô : Path of the Teal Lotus is more like a metroidvania. Scheduled for July 18 on PC and consoles, it has a certain charm thanks to its universe inspired by Japanese folklore.

Conceived as a retro-futuristic visual novel reserved for nostalgics, Omega 6 The Video Game will finally be released on July 25 under the title of Omega 6 : The Triangle Stars. We immediately recognize the paw of the chara designer of F-Zero et Starfox in this atypical project which became known in particular through a manga published by Omaké Books.

Finally, Arranger : A Role-Puzzling Adventure will attempt the improbable fusion between RPG and puzzle game on July 25. There is real potential behind this concept which also has the merit of relying on an unusual artistic direction. It is not surprising to find the graphic designer of Braid behind the scenes of its graphic design.

Nintendo Switch: Video games to watch in July 2024

But the title promises to be very clever in its gameplay. Each environment is made up of tiles that must be moved like on a grid by moving Jemma, the heroine of the game. And knowing that each of our movements has immediate consequences on the level design of the levels, we will have to anticipate the slightest of our actions in order to progress correctly without putting obstacles in the way ourselves. The role-playing aspect is treated in a completely transparent manner, the evolution of the character taking place in a natural and concrete way rather than through statistics. We don’t know if you’ll have to be an expert in Taquin to hope to see the end of this adventure.
