Tuesday June 25, the Bordeaux rectorate awarded the academic masterpiece prizes, allowing each professional high school in the academy to present the outcome of a multidisciplinary project, an integral part of the school program. The students of the Nicolas Brémontier adapted education high school (LEA) won the Departmental Council prize.

The project, called Cyclomix, aimed to design a blender bike from recycled materials. The students of Maintenance of green space equipment (MMEV) worked on the mechanical part and the construction of the blender bike. Those of Technical Assistant in Family and Collective Environments (ATMFC) researched anti-waste recipes and fruit preparation.

Cycling is recycling

This bike has the particularity, when you pedal, of driving the front wheel thanks to a chain, which itself turns an axis connected to the mixer, thus driving the blades to crush the fruit in the bowl. Some students therefore developed and implemented this ingenious system, while others designed anti-waste recipes, since the primary idea of the project was to be able to recycle damaged fruits intended to be thrown away to make smoothies. All this using only the mechanical strength of the legs.

Isabelle Gleyze, Eluska Saint-André, Frédéric Palvadeau, Fouad Belkebir and Mélissa Lafontaine, all teachers at the establishment, supervised the professional workshops, because the last few months have been intense for welding, drilling, sawing, cutting and folding on the MMEV side. The ATMFC students washed, cut, peeled, and mixed many fruits and vegetables. It was during applied arts classes that the project logo was imagined by an MMEV student. The students, very motivated, were able to complete the project in time to compete.

David, Mohamed and Zoé went to Bordeaux to present it, they received their prize from Anne Bisagni, rector of the Bordeaux academy.
