The iconic musical themes of The Lord of the Rings have resonated around the world, performed by numerous orchestras in concert. Among these performers, young music lovers from the Nîmes Conservatory recently took up the challenge brilliantly this Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Christian Ligier Theater in the Roman city.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with its music composed by Howard Shore, marked the history of cinema with its audacity and its beauty. Not only did Shore conduct the recording of the soundtracks with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, but his score was also recognized with three Academy Awards for Best Film Score.

As part of the validation of her cycle, a student chose to explore the music of this famous trilogy. With her band, she performed unforgettable themes such as “Concerning Hobbits / The Shire” (at the start of the video), “Road to Mordor” and “May It Be”. Their performance was a real immersion into the universe of Middle-earth.

The Conservatory orchestra was composed of percussion, notably the marimba, accompanied by singing and atmospheric sound effects. Careful lighting and designs inspired by the original artistic director of the saga added an impressive visual dimension to this concert.

The young artists from the Nîmes Conservatory were able to capture the essence and magic of Howard Shore’s music, thus offering the public a memorable musical and visual experience.
