The challenge: Will Boumertit do much better than in 2022?

This is one of the rare constituencies in the Rhône where only two candidates were able to qualify for the second round. Based on the results of the first round, the duel is very unbalanced between the outgoing LFI deputy, Idir Boumertit and the candidate of the National Rally, Cédric Mermet (28.21%). The elected representative of the New Popular Front obtained more than 48% of the votes in the first round, missing victory by a few hundred votes in one of the constituencies that voted the least on June 30 (a little less than 60% participation). The Macronist candidate was unable to maintain his position, not having passed the fateful threshold of 12.5% of registered voters. Idir Boumertit benefits from a broad electoral base with Vénissieux. On Sunday evening, he was behind until the incorporation of the results of the largest city in the constituency where he obtained 60% of the votes.
