Both arriving third in their respective constituencies, the outgoing deputies of the presidential majority Fadila Khattabi and Benoît Bordat announced this Monday, July 1, the withdrawal of their candidacy. With the same watchword: beat the National Rally (RN).

For his part, Emmanuel Bichot, president of the Agir pour Dijon group, published a press release on Tuesday, July 2, calling for “a blockade of the far left.” This also follows the remarks made by François Rebsamen on the evening of the results of the first round of the legislative elections. As a reminder, in the second and third constituencies, an RN – NFP (New Popular Front) duel will take place in the second round next Sunday.

“Not a single vote must be missing in the second round to beat the far right in the 3 Dijon constituencies. Also, in view of the results of the 1st round, I call on Benoît Bordat and Fadila Khattabi in the 2nd and 3rd constituencies of Côte-d’Or to step down in responsibility to defeat the far right,” declared the mayor of Dijon.

“We call for a blockade of the candidates of this anti-republican extreme left”

To which Emmanuel Bichot reacted: “The Dijon municipality is therefore clearly choosing an alliance with the far left, that of LFI, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the NPA. This political drift is dangerous for Dijon and the people of Dijon, but also for the inhabitants of the metropolis. It will aggravate the disorders already present in Dijon and threatens secularism.

“This is why, in the second round of the legislative elections, we are calling for a blockade against the candidates of this extreme left that is anti-republican and harmful to our City, its security and its cohesion.”
