ARLES Legislative elections: what you need to know

This Sunday, June 30, the first round of the legislative elections will take place. 37,435 people are registered on the electoral list of Arles, a city appearing in the 16th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.

Arles is part of the 16e constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône, with the municipalities of Boulbon, Fontvieille, Istres-Nord, Mas-Blanc-des-Alpilles, Miramas, Saint-Etienne-du-Grès, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Saint- Martin-de-Crau, Saint-Pierre-de-Mézoargues and Tarascon. According to figures communicated yesterday by the City of Arles, 37,435 people are registered on the electoral list of the municipality of Arles on D-5 of the election. The electoral card is not required to be able to vote, but it is necessary to present photo identification. Please note that the 35 polling stations in the municipality will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The results will be available from 8 p.m. on the website https://elections.arles.fr/.

Request for proxy until the day before the election

Voters who cannot travel or be present on election day may be represented by a person of their choice. It is possible to give proxy to a voter registered in another municipality, but they will have to go to the principal’s polling station on election day.

1090 proxy requests have already been processed by city services on D-5 of the election. There is still time to request a proxy online www.maprocuration.gouv.fr or by contacting the police station, the gendarmerie or the district court directly with proof of identity accepted for voting (identity card, passport, driving license). This process must be carried out no later than the morning before the vote so that the town hall can receive it in time.

The candidates in the running

Seven candidates are in the running for this first round of legislative elections in the 16th constituency. Florent Seddik (Reconquest), Guy Dubost (Workers’ Struggle) already a candidate in 2022, Nicolas Koukas (New Popular Front), Samir Bouziani (Equinoxe), the outgoing deputy Emmanuel Taché de la Pagerie (National Rally), Alain Bernardet (Les Républicains) and Marion Biscione (Ensemble).

Citizen appeal: the city is looking for assessors

To ensure the smooth running of the elections, the City of Arles must recruit volunteer assessors, at least 70 volunteers, in order to man the 35 offices of the municipality on Sundays June 30 and July 7, 2024. The role of an assessor is to control the voter’s registration, have him sign on the voting list. He participates in the counting, and signs the minutes and the annexed documents. To participate in this citizen exercise, all you need to do is be registered on the electoral list of the municipality or department, and send a request, specifying availability (morning, afternoon or full day) and the desired polling station: – by email to [email protected] – or by post to Arles town hall – Population Service – Pôle Élections – 13 rue Romain Rolland – 13637 Arles cedex. Such. 04 90 49 38 49.
