As part of its Youth Plan, the Department of Charente-Maritime wishes to give a financial boost to middle school students wishing to carry out civic projects within their establishments.

The “Becoming Citizens” call for projects funds up to €1,000 for the project of a group of middle school students aged 11 to 15, two of whom, elected youth departmental advisors, are responsible for presenting their project to the Department.

After a first test edition (2022-2023) dedicated to bringing out collective initiatives aimed at restoring links
social at the heart of the concerns of youth, the second edition (2023-2024) of “Devenir Citoyens” made the
middle school students around the theme: “The values ​​of Olympism”.

Twelve colleges participated

With the designation of the city of Paris as organizer of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the call for projects was
broken down around four issues: sport and citizenship; sport and culture; sport and health; disabled sports and adapted sports.

Twelve colleges participated in this edition, the presentation of the college students’ projects took place on Wednesday June 12, in the form of an exhibition installed for the day within the Maison de la Charente-Maritime.

“Changing the way we look at disability and aging”.

The 3rd edition of the call for projects to “Become citizens” has already been launched and is dedicated to the theme: “Changing our outlook
on disability and aging.
Middle school students are encouraged to propose collective initiatives whose objectives will be to: promote living together; raise awareness about welcoming young people with disabilities “so that difference is no longer a handicap”; encourage intergenerational projects with elderly people; encourage the sharing of experiences; raise awareness among young people about careers in
health and social services.
