The Afictionados festival is a flagship event for fans of all forms of fiction, and will be held at the University of Nîmes this Friday, June 28.

Initiated by Master Fiction students, this festival offers an exceptional showcase for their works while creating a meeting space between teachers, students and professionals from the cultural and creative industries (ICC).

An event to promote fiction

For four years, the Afictionados festival is in its third consecutive edition on the Vauban site, aiming to introduce the general public to the specificity and richness of this unique training.

THE PROGRAM FOR THE 2023 EDITION

11 a.m.-12 p.m.: AFICTIONADOS broadcast live on the Twitch channel of the University of Nîmes, hosted by Tom Servière and Dodo Adom. This show will welcome invited professionals, students and teachers from the Fiction master’s degree, who will look back on the projects of the past year. Among the guests are Hélène Sellier (narrative designer and HIC master’s teacher), Alex Concheri (game and narrative designer), and Clémence Gueidan (narrative designer and escape game scriptwriter).

2 p.m.-4 p.m.: Exhibition of students’ creative works, open to the public in the Bubble and at the University Library:

Valentine Flork: launch of her novel with Lorelei editions (M1 2023 project).
Léa Larguier (duplex from the comic book fair): presentation of her manga Death Master (M2 project).
Ginevra Puggioni: demonstration of a visual novel (M1 project).
Mélina Vuillaumier: presentation of a book produced with Géoproject at Carré d’art (M2 internship).
Hugo Bourdigal, Igor Holfert, Julie Agro: broadcast of the radio fiction SatireÔSort, with activities and games around this universe (collective project of M2).
Fanny Grellier: screening of the first episode of the web series Mélanie en Occitanie (M1 project).
Return to the Spring Arts Festival (M1 collective project).

4 p.m.: Closing ceremony with the “48 hours is too short” event in the auditorium of the Vauban site. This short film festival, organized by Unîmes students, is open to all.

An overview of the Master Fiction

The Master’s degree in Fiction at the University of Nîmes trains professionals from the creative industries specializing in fiction and narration. It offers an interdisciplinary program including research seminars, writing and creation workshops, covering all aspects of contemporary productions, from economic circuits to reception effects. This bilingual training (French and English) extends over two years and includes several compulsory internships.

The Afictionados festival is a unique opportunity for the public to dive into the world of fiction and discover the promising talents of the Fiction master’s degree at the University of Nîmes.
